Recruitment and UX (User Experience)
What is UX – All aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products. User experience (UX) is the process to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users.
The keyword in this definition is the User. In the case of recruitment, there are two main users: Recruiters and candidates. And the recruitment process is designed primarily thinking on the recruiter, instead of the candidate.
The problem of designing the recruitment process mainly focusing on the recruiters is that potential good candidates are being lost in the process. In other words, by not offering a good experience for the candidates, companies might lose the right professionals in the future.
1. Make the company interesting for candidates
2. Make the job advertisement interesting for candidates
3. Make the recruitment process interesting for candidates
Good professionals are busy and (probably) already hired. It’s up to companies to attract candidates for their open positions. To do that, recruiters should consider adopting UX principles, focus on the candidates in the recruitment process and improve the candidates’ experience.
